Insulation
Insulation is one of the most important factors for year-round comfort in any prefabricated timber building – whether a garden room, outdoor office, or residential cabin. Wall, roof, and floor insulation, combined with double-glazed windows and doors, work together to create a genuinely warm, dry, and quiet building in all seasons.
Benefits of high-quality insulation
• Year-round use: An insulated building is comfortable to use in any Irish month – not just the summer.
• Lower energy costs: Timber naturally retains heat; insulation dramatically reduces the energy required to maintain a comfortable temperature.
• Moisture protection: Proper insulation reduces condensation, preventing mould, decay, discolouration, and structural damage – particularly important in Ireland's damp climate.
• Protection for stored belongings: Maintains optimal temperature conditions in garages, workshops, and storage buildings.
How insulation works
Insulation material is placed between the layers of the wall, roof, or floor construction. The three insulated construction types in our range are:

• Single log wall with vertical cladding and insulation in the air gap
• Twin skin double log wall with insulation in the cavity
• SIPs (Structural Insulated Panels) – insulation integrated within the structural panel
Insulation specifications
Basic insulation
25 mm PIR insulation in walls, roof, and floor. Suitable for seasonal use – summer houses, holiday cabins, and buildings used primarily in the warmer months. Reduces overheating in summer and lowers heating energy requirements in winter.
Advanced insulation (BRF – Building Regulation Friendly)
120 mm PIR walls, 175 mm PIR roof, 200 mm PIR floor. Fully compliant with residential building thermal insulation requirements. Provides year-round comfort, maximum energy efficiency, excellent noise insulation, and minimum indoor moisture levels. Recommended for all buildings intended for permanent or intensive daily year-round use in Ireland.
Component insulation
• Wall insulation: Boards fitted between wall layers with an air gap for ventilation. 25 mm PIR (basic) or 120 mm PIR (advanced).
