Types of Building Construction
The construction type is a fundamental choice affecting assembly, thermal performance, acoustic performance, durability, and appearance. Our range covers:
- Log wall construction (tongue and groove): single log wall, single log wall with vertical cladding, double log wall (twin skin)
- SIPs (Structural Insulated Panels)
Log wall construction (tongue and groove)
All our log cabin buildings use interlocking logs with double tongue and groove profiles. Logs are stacked and locked in the corners, creating a robust and airtight structure. Slow-grown spruce boards fully overlap, guaranteeing draught-proofing – the cold and rain cannot penetrate the wall.
Single log wall (single skin)

- 28 mm: Small sheds and compact garden cabins for occasional use.
- 34 mm: Small summertime cabins, garden sheds, and gazebos.
- 44 mm: Used across the majority of our product range. More airtight, better structural mass and thermal insulation than thinner walls.
- 66 mm: Significantly improved longevity, thermal mass, and noise insulation. Used for log cabins, granny annexes, garden rooms, and garden offices intended for regular year-round use.
- 80–300 mm (bespoke glued timber): Available for large bespoke projects. Superior structural performance and insulation; better resistance to natural deformation than solid single-piece timber.

Single log wall with vertical timber cladding
A structural log wall with vertical exterior cladding boards applied over the outside surface. The 20 mm cladding on 44 mm or 34 mm walls creates a combined wall of 64 mm or 54 mm. The air gap between the log wall and the cladding can be filled with additional insulation for enhanced thermal performance. This construction eliminates most natural wood deformation, provides excellent airtightness, and creates the contemporary aesthetic used across our modern garden room and office range. The 44+20 mm construction is suitable for residential-quality buildings.

Double log wall (twin skin)
Two layers of log wall with an insulation-filled air cavity between them. Our twin skin models feature:

- 34+34 mm (68 mm total): Suitable for a range of garden buildings through to residential models.
- 44+44 mm (88 mm total): Recommended for optimal thermal, acoustic, and moisture insulation. The most popular insulated specification for large residential buildings.
SIPs (Structural Insulated Panels)

SIPs construction uses OSB3 panels with polystyrene foam insulation in the core, combined with vertical timber cladding on the exterior. Used for our contemporary garden room and office range.
Key benefits:
- High quality and longevity: Structurally superior – the wood does not expand or shrink significantly over time.
- Best value for money: PVC windows and doors, EPDM roof covering, breathable membrane, and OSB sheets are all included in the price.
- Outstanding insulation: Excellent thermal, acoustic, and moisture performance.
- Modern aesthetic: Clean vertical cladding exterior with PVC windows and doors creates a contemporary appearance suited to modern Irish homes.
